Virtual Dietitians

Nutrition Counseling for Fertility, Pregnancy, Postpartum, and more.

Feed Your Zest offers nutrition coaching services to support your reproductive health journey with intuitive eating. Whether that is getting your period back and having a healthy pregnancy, managing gestational diabetes, or improving symptoms of PCOS or endometriosis, our team of qualified registered dietitian nutritionists is here to help.

What does it look like to work with a dietitian at Feed Your Zest?

Our founder, McKenzie, likes to explain that nutrition therapy sessions are like a halfway point between a mental health therapy session and a doctor’s appointment. We allow plenty of space to explore thoughts, feelings, emotions and beliefs surrounding food and body image and use therapeutic counseling to help you dig into the WHY behind your behaviors. At the same time, as registered dietitian nutritionists, we are trained in medical nutrition therapy to provide evidence-based advice that is individualized to your physical & mental health needs.

What happens in sessions?

During the first meeting, your dietitian will do a full 60 to 90-minute medical nutrition therapy assessment to get to know YOU - your medical & mental health history, food preferences, culture & background, and social environment. Your dietitian will help you set a few small goals to work on between sessions. Follow-up visits are where the magic happens - our dietitians utilize counseling techniques like motivational interviewing and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy to help you understand your relationship with food & body and move towards living a more meaningful life through commitment to your nourishing values. Instead of a one-size-fits-all meal plan or diet, our dietitians help you incorporate sustainable behavior changes that you can take with you into the rest of your life.

What does the coaching structure look like?

All new clients start off with an initial appointment, and follow up biweekly for 3 months. From there, clients have the option to continue the next 3 months with biweekly appointments, or shift down to monthly appointments. Eventually, we hope to push you out of the nest! The goal is for you to build the skills you need to thrive on your own.

Is there support between sessions?

Yes! Through a mindful/intuitive eating app, your dietitian can provide weekly feedback and encouragement on food and/or blood sugar logs.

Do you offer meal plans?

We believes strongly in helping you trust your body, and recognizes some structure and ideas for how to meet your individual needs can be extremely helpful in maximizing your reproductive health. We provide flexible, diet-free meal plans/recipe suggestions (no calories or macros involved!) weekly that are tailored to your individual needs and preferences.

Who are your dietitians?

We are a team of registered dietitian nutritionists trained in perinatal nutrition and disordered eating. We are highly qualified, compassionate clinicians who can’t WAIT to support you.

McKenzie Caldwell, MPH, RDN, founder and lead dietitian.

Kristen Carney, MS, RDN, associate dietitian.

Natalie Ostrowski, MPH, RDN, IBCLC, associate dietitian & lactation consultant.

We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna insurances

Many clients with BCBS or Aetna can see a Feed Your Zest dietitian free of charge (100% coveage with no copay, 6 to unlimited visits per year). Call the number on your insurance card and ask these questions to verify benefits.

Kristen and Natalie are not yet in network with Aetna, but will be soon! They are available for private pay packages and those utilizing BCBS.

We unfortunately cannot accept Blue Value or Blue Local plans. Out-of-state telehealth coverage may differ by plan. We encourage all prospective clients to check their out-of-network coverage of medical nutrition therapy (MNT), as we can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance.
